Juvenile Division


The Juvenile Division has jurisdiction over youths 17 and younger who are accused of crimes in St. Louis. Those accused of the most serious offenses and deemed a danger to the community are held at the 22nd Judicial Circuit’s detention center at 3847 Enright Avenue.

JUVENILE DIVISION HOURS

The majority of children in the juvenile system aren’t accused of crimes. Rather, they are considered victims of neglect and abuse whom the court has removed from their homes for their own safety.

The St. Louis Family Court-Juvenile Division’s mission is to administer justice with compassion, dignity and respect while promoting child protection, safe communities and youth competency while holding youths accountable, repairing harm to victims and strengthening families.

The Juvenile Division has numerous programs designed to enhance community safety. All of them seek to support the court’s vision of provide access to justice in a courteous and timely manner and characterized by equality, fairness, integrity, independence, accountability, public trust and confidence.

The Juvenile Division is located at 920 North Vandeventer Avenue, The juvenile detention center, 3847 Enright Avenue, is connected to the juvenile court.

CHIEF JUVENILE OFFICER:

Amanda M. Sodomka, court administrator and acting chief juvenile officer of the 22nd Judicial Circuit Family Court-Juvenile Division, has spent her career dedicated to the service of the court and in the practice of juvenile law. As assistant court administrator, she handles the administration of the Juvenile Division including budgeting and stewardship of grant funding, court services to youth and families, and the juvenile court's five departments. She previously worked as director of legal services with the 23rd Judicial Circuit Court. Sodomka is a certified court manager and certified faculty with the National Center for States Courts Institute. She holds leadership roles in various state and local committees focused on development of evidence-based practices and with the goal of improving the court system.
